Mamagoto is a pan asian restaurant located at Bandra, Mumbai.

The all day dimly lit restaurant serves pan asian delicacies ranging from chinese, thai, malaysian and japanese.

Most of their dishes are a modern take on traditional asian classics.

The food menu is a mix of soap, salads, appetizers, dimsums, sushi, baos, rice bowls, mains and desserts.

Their new menu also has some interesting healthy options.

So here is what I had –

SALADS :-

GRILLED MUSHROOM AND EDMAME –
Mixed green salad with roasted tomatoes, wonton sheet strips and vinaigrette dressing.

WASABI INFUSED SMOKED CHICKEN –
Mixed green salad with caramelized onions, grilled chicken breast, snow peas and wasabi mayo dressing.

Both the salad were fantastic, I really liked the wasabi salad due to its sharp pungent flavour, even the addition of snow peas was apt.

APPETIZERS :-

SHRIMP & WASABI CREAM –
Prawns sauteed with caramelized onions and seven spice powder.
Served with crisp bread.
The prawns had got mushy, didn’t quite go well with me.

LOTUS ROOT TEMPURA –
Tempura batter fried lotus stems tossed with curry leaves and bird eye chillies, served with curry mayo dip.
The lotus stems were extremely crispy, curry leaf flavoured mayo was fabulous !

DIMSUMS :-

– VEG TREASURE
– HOT VEG
– SPICY CHICKEN
– PRAWNS HAR GAO
– SPICY PRAWNS

Rice and potato flour was used in making the dimsum wrapper, it was extremely thin and translucent.
The dimsums were served with chilli dip.
I liked all of them but the spicy veg ones with peanuts were quite different.

SUSHI :-

PRAWNS SUSHI STACK –
Deconstructed sushi made with stir fried rice tossed with mayo and topped with prawns tempura, avocados, nori strips and fish roe.
Served with soya sauce, wasabi and gari.
The sushi stack was extremely delicious, what I loved about the dish was that the underlying flavour of a prawns tempura sushi was intact.

MAINS :-

HAINAN CHICKEN –
Poached chicken served with pak choi, chicken broth and singapore chilli sauce.
The chilli sauce was extremely flavourful, even the rice cooked on chicken broth was awesome !

DESSERTS :-

COCONUT ICE CREAM –
Homemade coconut ice cream, sweetened with palm sugar.
Really nice, who doesn’t like ice cream !

Overall, I had a fabulous time.
Mamagoto does justice to the asian food it serves, it’s not completely authentic but it’s made to suit the indian palate.
They add the extra zing we look for in a satisfying asian meal !
