Clearing House is a modern european restaurant located at Ballard Estate, Mumbai.

Beautifully done up, divided into two spacious sections, clearing house has a chic elegant decor.

The food menu is broadly european with preference given to dishes made local seasonal produce, clearing house also has a bit of asian in its menu.

The restaurant has recently come up with a ala carte brunch menu that’s available only on weekends, it’s a interesting mix of smoothies, cocktails, eggs to orders, salads, waffles, pan cakes, comfort food, mains and desserts.

So here is what I had from the brunch menu –

FRUIT SMOOTHIE :-

AVOCADO AND CHOCOLATE –
Yogurt based smoothie with cocoa powder and fresh avocados.
Thick in it’s consistently, nice cocoa flavour, avocado added richness and texture.

SALADS :-

ARUGULA AND GREEN APPLE –
Arugula leaves and green apples with cranberries and pecans, dressed in sherry wine and sesame dressing.
Very light and refreshing, the green apples had a nice crunch, cranberries added a sour zing, pecans added crunch, loved it !!

EGGS :-

EGG BENEDICT –
Toasted muffin topped with smoked salmon and poached eggs, drizzled with truffle infused hollandaise sauce.
Served with potatoes tossed with onion and rosemary.
The egg benedict was nailed to perfection, each and every element was perfect.
Be it the muffin being firm yet moist or the hollandaise sauce being aromatic and creamy.
Truffle oil and smoked salmon added a lot of value !

PRAWNS TACOS –
Soft shell tortillas stuffed with crumb fried prawns, sour cream, tomato salsa and guacamole.
A perfect combination, soft tortillas and crispy prawns !

ENTREE :-

GRILLED RAWAS –
Grilled rawas fish fillet served on a bed of prawns tomato pilaf with thai chilli basil butter.
Absolutely delicious, it was simple but brilliantly executed, the fish fillet was pan seared to perfection, the flavour of garlic, red chilli and freshly grounded black pepper was spot on.

DESSERTS :-

DOUGHWICH –
Doughnut layered with peanut butter, stuffed with belgium chocolate ice cream, topped with egg meringue and crushed cookies.
Wow ! The doughnut had the perfect texture, not at all chewy, even the inhouse made peanut butter was yummy and so was a cool dark chocolate ice cream. Loved it !

Overall, I had a lovely time.
It was a relaxed and appetizing brunch.
Each and every dish was perfect, nothing was overdone or overpowering, each dish was full of flavour !!
Surely one of the best brunches I have had in recent times.
