Quarter Canteen is a bar and restaurant located at Bandra, Mumbai.
The casual bar offers indian imported spirits and cocktails served in quirky desi daaru bottles.
Their food menu is a mix of bar nibbles along with indian and chinese appetizers, mains and desserts.
So here is what I had –
SAUNF & SOUND –
Vodka based cocktail made with fennel, lime and sugar. Very different, loved the fresh flavour of saunf.
CHILLI CRAB –
Boneless crab meat tossed with capsicum, onion, garlic, ginger and chillies. Delicately seasoned with soya sauce and black pepper.
Garnished with spring onions.
Absolutely delicious, it was all about the freshness of the seafood, flavour and seasoning was aptly mild. Loved it !!
LEMON BUTTER PRAWNS –
Prawns tossed in a Lemon butter sauce, seasoned with white pepper.
Missed out in the garlic and at the same time too citrusy but prawns were cooked to perfection.
SPRING ROLLS –
Thin freshly made spring rolls sheets stuffed with veggies. Served with schezwan sauce.
Absolutely crispy and moist, even the seasoning in the stuffing was punchy, nice !!
PUDHINA PANEER TIKKA –
Cottage cheese marinated with yogurt, mint and mild indian spices, grilled in tandoor.
Malai paneer was used in the preparation, absolutely soft. I even loved it’s flavour as the mint with a hint of chaat masala and mustard oil made it extremely delicious.
FISH TAWA FRY –
Rawas fish fillet marinated with ginger, garlic and bold indian spices, pan seared to perfection. Sprinkled with chaat masala.
The tawa fish was delicious, again it was just due to the freshness of the rawas used in the preparation.
CHILLI GARLIC NOODLES –
Stir fried noodles tossed with onion, garlic, chicken, soya sauce and scallions.
Well made, nice garlicky flavour, extremely filling. Loved it !!
Overall, I had a great time.
The chilled out bar even organises live events on regular basis, I enjoyed their karaoke night.
Their food also deserves a special mention, nothing fancy but they have got their basics right !!
Flavourful comforting indian food 😉
