Talaiva is a restaurant and bar located at Kamla Mills, Mumbai.
The spacious, beautifully done up all day restaurant serves indian and european cuisine.
The food menu is a mix of salad, appetizers, pizza, mains and desserts.
The restaurant also has a special menu called “House of Heritage”.
It’s curated by the owners who belong to the royal families of rajasthan.
The menu includes rajasthani speciality dishes like bati, laal maas, gatta curry and ker sangri.
One also gets an hearty choice of royal rajputi mutton dishes in this special menu.
Coming to the bar menu, it offers a variety of indian imported spirits along with some traditional royal cocktails.
So here is what I had –
TALAIVA THANDAI –
Rum based cocktail made with milk, nuts and thandai. Garnished with run soaked figs.
Creamy and smooth, it had the right proportion of liquier to get you started !
Brilliantly executed !
CRACKED BEETROOT –
Roasted beetroot with lettuce and sun dried tomatoes dressed in balsamic vinaigrette dressing, garnished with goat cheese and candid walnuts.
Really nice, the beetroots were perfectly charred, goat cheese and feta gave the variation in flavour.
WASABI FLAVOURED PRAWNS –
Japanese prawns tempura served on a bed of wasabi mayo.
The prawns tempura had the perfect airy crispy texture, tasted delicious with the cool mayo but the actual flavour of japanese stem paste wasabi was very mild !
HARISSA PRAWNS –
Prawns tossed in african spice mix, grilled to perfection.
Served with harissa mayo dip.
Spicy and succulent, prawns tasted really nice with the accompanied dip.
MURG BIKANERI TIKKA –
Chicken chunks marinated with cream, garlic and mild indian spices, grilled on tandoor.
The tikka’s had an extreme garlic flavour, someone who isn’t a fan of pungent garlic should definitely ask them to tone it down !
Thin crust pizza layered with mushroom sauce, topped with shitake mushrooms. Drizzled with truffle oil.
The pizza was thin n crispy, truffle and mushrooms go really well together so they worked wonders on the pizza !
CHICKEN BREAST WITH CREAMY MASH –
Pan seared chicken breast, drizzled with pepper sauce, served with grilled veggies and potato mash.
The chicken breast was juicy, no thickning agent was used in the black pepper sauce, tasted delicious with the accompanied creamy buttery mashed potatoes.
GAJAR KA HALWA –
Traditional indian dessert made with carrots, ghee, milk and dry fruits.
Very homely, right amount of sweetness, mild flavour of cardamom, tasted delicious.
Overall, I had a nice time.
Talaiva is a good option to dine at Kamla Mills, it had fantastic collection of north indian and europen food.
It’s ambiance is elegant and service is courteous.
