The Looney, The Lover and The Poet is a experimental global cuisine restaurant located at Khar, Mumbai.

Depicting the three sides of human emotions, The all day dining restaurant offers breakfast to dinner in a colourful vibrant atmosphere, it has an option for beautiful outdoor seating as well.

Going by the theme, Looney’s food menu is elaborate, it’s a massive mix and match of global twisted soup, salads, appetizers, mains and desserts

So here is what I had –

COCKTAILS :-

TALK TO ME –
Bourbon whiskey based cocktail made with nutella, hazelnut and cinnamon.
Super strong, the melody hazelnut and cinnamon worked well.

SALAD :-

KALE A DAY –
Kale leaves with apple and candid walnuts, dressed in a blue cheese dressing.
Simple yet elevated, the sharp blue cheese dressing with sweet sour apples and pungent kale leaves tasted delicious.

APPETIZER :-

FALAFEL PLATTER –
Oats and sun dried tomato falafel, served with pistachio, almonds and saffron hummus.
The falafel was absolutely crispy, the trio of hummus was a interesting take where chickpea wasn’t used in the making.
I personally liked the almond hummus.

WHISKEY CHILLI MAPLE PRAWNS –
Juicy prawns tossed with maple syrup and red chilli paste, flambeed with whiskey.
Sweet and spicy, can’t go wrong if you like prawns !

AVOCADO TOAST –
Toasted russian black bread topped with avocado spread, pumpkin seeds, sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese.
The avocado spread was delicious and garnishing of melon seeds added crunch.

PANELLE CANAPES –
Sicilian fritters topped with portobello mushroom thyme ragout and pine nuts.
The italian crispy chickpea fritters and creamy cheesy mushrooms were a good combination, loved it !!

MAINS :-

FILLO SHAWARMA –
Phyllo pastry sheet rolled and stuffed with chicken, mushrooms, onions and hummus.
Served with saffron hummus and house salad.
The filling of chicken was juicy and flavourful.
The twist of using phyllo sheets instead of pita bread worked well, it gave a crispy flaky outer to the shawarma.

DESSERTS :-

ALL THE HONEY IN THE WORLD –
Pistachio flour sponge cake, drizelled with honey custard and served honey chamomile ice cream.
Garnished with bee pollen.
The dessert was surely for ones who like honey to the extreme, super sweet !

Overall, The Looney is for people who love to experiment with food, their concept can be very well associated with the food as well – crazy lovable tasteful !
