Keiba is a modern asian Bar and Restaurant located at Mahalaxmi, Mumbai.

Casual n vibrant, keiba has a energetic ambiance, it offers an option of indoor outdoor seating.

It serves delicacies from all across south east asia, the cuisine ranges from chinese, malaysian, thai and japanese.

Traditional classic recipes have been given a mild subtle twist, the food menu offers soup, salads, appetizers, dimsum, sushi, mains and desserts.

So here is what I had –

SOUP :-

VEG LAKSA –
Coconut milk based soup with veggies, thai herbs and crispy noodles, garnished with paneer satay.
Soothing and comforting, I loved the twist of fried noodles, it gave a variation in the texture !

SALAD :-

Mixed green salad made with tofu, sprouts and french beans, dressed in a peanutty dressing with added crushed peanuts.
Fresh and healthy, I loved the crunch coming from the peanuts and sprouts !!

APPETIZERS :-

BIRD EYE CHILLI PRAWNS –
Batter fried prawns tossed with bird eye chillies and scallions in a spicy asian sauce.
Extremely spicy but delicious, it had loads of garlic, red chilli paste and finally chopped bird eye chillies.

SALMON TERIYAKI –
Salmon fillet glazed with teriyaki sauce, served on a bed of wok tossed veggies.
Nice dark soya and mirin flavour, salmon was pan seared to perfection.

CRISPY CORN & WATERCHESNUT –
Batter fried corn kernels and waterchesnut tossed in plum sauce.
Crunchy sweet n mildly spicy, a good vegetarian appetizer option.

DIMSUM :-

– VEG CRYSTAL
Finely chopped crunchy veggies and mushroom.

– MUSHROOM TRUFFLE
Finally chopped mushrooms with truffle oil.

– WATERCHESNUT & LEEK
Crunchy waterchesnut and leek stuffed dumplings.

– CHICKEN CRYSTAL
Classic minced chicken dimsum.

– SHRIMP CHILLI OIL
Minced prawn dumpling with a garnishing of chilli oil and fried garlic.

All the dim sums were fantastic, they had a extremely thin rice flour outer and flavourful filling, tasted delicious with the accompanied scallion dip and chill oil dip.

SUSHI :-

PRAWNS TEMPURA
Vinagered rice, rolled with prawns tempura and avocado.
Served with wasabi, soya sauce and gari.
Well made, loved the addition of chopped avocados in a classic tempura maki roll.

MAINS :-

PRAWNS IN BLACK PEPPER SAUCE –
Batter fried prawns tossed in black pepper sauce with bell peppers.
The black pepper sauce was super peppery but it had a hint of sweetness, it tasted absolutely delicious.
Must try !!

STIR FRIED UDON NOODLES –
Japanese flat wheat noodles, stir fried with soya sauce and veggies.
The noodles had a nice chewy whole wheat texture, tasted delicious with pepper sauce.

DESSERTS :-

CHOCOLATE FONDANT WITH HAZELNUT GELATO –
Chocolate sponge cake filled with gooey chocolate.
Served with crushed hazelnut ice cream.

BAKED CHEESECAKE WITH SEASONAL BERRIES –
Freshly baked, curshed cookie base cheesecake made with whisked cream cheese. Topped with fresh berries and compote.

Both the desserts were nice but the cheesecake was extremely delicious, it was mildly sweet, perfectly airy and contrast of sour berries was apt.

Overall, Keiba which means awakening your senses, lives upto it’s name !
The varied asian delicacies justify their respective origin in terms of flavour and texture.
A good pan asian option in SOBO !
