Carouse is a contemporary bar and kitchen located at Lower Parel, Mumbai.

Elegantly done up, Carouse has a magnificent ambiance with a chic dimly lit understated decor.

It serves modern european cuisine, their crisp menu is a mix of soup, salads, appetizers, mains and desserts.

Their well stocked bar also has some interesting cocktails to offer.

Carouse transforms into a party zone on weekends and has ladies night on wednesdays.
It also organises live performances on regular basis.

So here is what I had –

COCKTAILS :-

TRAVELLER –
Vodka based cocktail made with vegetable stock made of beetroot/chilli/cilantro and basil leaves.
Fabulous, the flavours of chilli, basil cilantro and beetroot were well balanced, loved it !!

SOUP :-

CHICKEN SOUP WITH DUMPLINGS –
Chicken broth and cream based soup with minced chicken stuffed dumpling.
Hearty chicken flavour, mild seasoning of black pepper, Nice !!

SALADS :-

CHOPPED LETTUCE –
Lettuce dressed in lime vinaigrette dressing, served with grilled cottege cheese, pencan infused feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, avocado and green apples.
Loved the different elements in the salad, specially the pecan feta cheese was brilliant.

APPETIZERS :-

MEZZE PLATTER –
Crispy lavash and pita bread served with traditional hummus, babaganoush, sun dried tomato pesto, achari harrisa, tomato basil salsa and moutabel.
Extremely delicious, each and every accompaniment was fantastic, the achari fusion done to harrisa was my favourite.
Even the eggplant moutabel and babaganoush was amazing !!

ORANGE SICHUAN PEPPER PRAWNS –
Juicy prawns grilled to perfection then tossed with oranges and sichuan pepper corn. Topped with green mango salsa.
Wow !! Spicy zesty citrusy flavour made these prawns extremely delicious, I even loved the smokey flavour coming through them.

GRILLED SQUIDS –
Grilled calamari, tossed with butter and lots of garlic. Simple yet appetizing !

KOREAN SATAY CHICKEN –
Grilled chicken skewers, glazed with asian sweet spicy sauce.
The chicken was soft and juicy, the balance of sweet spicy flavour was apt.

MAINS :-

CHEESE WHEEL –
Spaghetti made in bechamel sauce on a parmesan cheese wheel, flambeed with brandy. Garnished with chopped parsley.
Perhaps this is the only place I have seen in India that cooks spaghetti in a parmesan cheese wheel block.
The dish is simple but you get a unadulterated flavour of parmesan cheese as it’s just seasoned with salt and pepper.
Extremely delicious !!!

PAN SEARED SEABASS –
Seabass fish fillet drizelled with butter caper sauce, Served with sauteed dried prawns and curry leaf potatoes.
The seabass was grilled to perfection, the dried prawns gave it a strong seafood flavour, it tasted delicious with the shallow fried potatoes.

DESSERTS :-

MOCHA MOUSSE PANACOTTA –
A panacotta with a melody of coffee, cream and chocolate.

HOMEMADE TIRAMISU ICE CREAM –
Expresso coffee and mascarpone cheese flavoured homemade ice cream.

Both the desserts were delicious but i specially loved the tiramisu ice cream.
It was brilliant !!

Overall, I had a amazing time.
Carouse is fantastic, weather its the ambiance or it’s food ….
I specially loved the indian undertone given to the food, it looks and feels european but it’s extremely palatable for everyone.

Go try indulge !!
