The Runaway Project by Pizza Express is a fashion themed italian restaurant located at Phoenix Mills, Mumbai.
The restaurant has a chic glamorous ambiance, even their food menu and names are designed with keeping fashion in mind.
The restaurant aims to showcase India’s most glamorous city – Mumbai in the most beautiful way possible.
Their food menu is a mix of salads, appetizers, pizza, pasta, sandwiches and desserts, it’s curated by ace chef Vicky Ratnani.
They also have an elaborate bar with some stellar wine and spirits.
So here is what I had –
Bourbon whiskey and dry martini based cocktail made with white chocolate syrup.
Pretty simple but it was all about the right balance, smooth and strong at the same time.
THE MICRO MINI –
Rocket leaves/burrata cheese and beetroot dressed in a balsamic vinaigrette dressing, garnished with caramelized walnuts and micro greens.
Absolutely delicious, nice balance of creamy burrata and sour balsamic vinaigrette.
The caramelized walnuts added crunch and hint of sweetness, Perfect !
LIMONCELLO GAMBERI –
Prawns marinated with limoncello liquor, grilled to perfection, then tossed with lobster stock/butter/black pepper/garlic/chilli flakes and parsley.
Juicy buttery sour garlicky n peppery, the prawns were absolutely delicious.
CIGAR CLUB –
Phyllo cigar rolls stuffed with roasted sweet peppers and cottage cheese.
Garnished with mayo and balsamic glaze.
The phyllo cigar was nice and flaky, cottage cheese filling was flavourful.
BOCCONCINI DI POLLO –
Chicken marinated with cranberry/indonesian mala paste and soya sauce, chargrilled to perfection, served over a bed of mint kale emulsion.
Garnished with cranberries and pepper relish.
The chicken was brined beautifully, so the chicken itself was full of flavour, the citrusy marinate did the rest ! Delicious !!
The pizzas are hand rolled and they have a hollow centre.
The hollow centre houses the accompanied salad.
Pizza base layered with alfredo sauce, topped with blue cheese crumble, drizelled with truffle oil.
POLLO FORZA –
Pizza base layered with arrabbiata sauce, topped with grilled chicken/bell peppers/jalapenos and mozzarella cheese.
Garnished with parsley and chilli oil.
Both the pizza were accompanied with rocket leaf, feta and walnut salad.
The pizzas were fantastic in flavour and texture.
I specially loved the aroma of truffle oil in the bianco pizza, it was complimenting the sharp blue cheese beautifully.
Even the pollo pizza had a flavourful chicken topping as the barbecue chicken was marinated with smoked chillies.
GNOCCHI ALLA SORRENTINA –
Freshly made gnocchi, made using quinoa flour instead of potato, tossed in tomato sauce with cherry tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella.
One can not spot the difference in the quinoa gnocchi, they were smooth and soft.
Even the tomato sauce was tangy and sweet, it had a nice flavour of fresh basil.
Dark madagascar chocolate roll filled with tiramisu and almond crumble,
The dessert was made to resemble as a cigar and its given a hickory wood smoke.
Insanely delicious, one could get a smoky flavour with a melody of dark chocolate and coffee liqueur. Fabulous !
Overall, I had a great time.
Runaway Project by Pizza Express is a fantastic option to savour an italian meal in style.
Deep attention has been paid to the food it serves, flavours are complex yet subtle.
Service was warm and the staff (Mr sanket, if I remember correctly) had complete knowledge about each dish in the menu.
