Tappa is a modern indian cuisine restaurant and bar located at Kamla Mills, Mumbai.

Aesthetically done up and visually pleasing, Tappa has a beautiful ambiance, it personifies movement and aims to create indian food for the global palate.

It’s bar has extensive collection of white spirits from across the globe, it serves some amazing cocktails made using in house made bitters, syrups and herbs.

The food menu is short and crisp, divided into four sections – vegetarian, poultry, meat and seafood, it includes bar nibbles, appetizers, mains and desserts.

So here is what I had –

COCKTAILS :-

GIMLET FOAM –
Gin based cocktail made with homemade limoncello (lemon zest, sugar) /lavender syrup and marshmallow foam.

CREAM MARGARITA POPSICLE –
Tequila infused popsicle made with condensed milk/black salt and lime juice.

BLACK SCANDINAVIAN –
Vodka based cocktail made with herbs (dill, fennel, star anise, cinnamon) /dark chocolate cocoa syrup/squid ink cream/sea salt water/egg whites and orange soda.

SALTED AIR MAGARITA –
Taquila and orange liquier based cocktail made with lime and salted air foam.

All the cocktails were unique and outstanding, they were super smooth and easy to the palate.
This was due to the use of alternative natural ingredients, syrups and herbs.

BAR NIBBLES :-

HONEY BBQ CHEESELINGS –
Cheeselings/onions and tomatoes tossed with barbecue sauce and paprika.
Spicy and smokey, a pleasant twist to the cheeselings.

KHARI FAN –
Khari biscuits topped with red pepper sauce/pickled radish, beetroot/basil and feta cheese.
A great snack to munch on, it had the perfect spicy kick !

SMALL PLATES :-

CHARGRILLED MUSHROOMS & BROCCOLI –
Mushrooms and broccoli florets grilled to perfection, drizzled with smoked tamarind sauce and green chutney.
Garnished with besan chilla crisps.
One gets the natural flavour and chunch of the veggies, the sauce is used in moderation, it’s gives a beautiful subtle flavour.

PALAK PANEER PATTIES –
Khari biscuits scooped and filled with palak paneer, topped with spoon tomatoes and goat cheese.
Served with raw mango salsa.
Wow, it was delicious, never thought the sharp flavour of goat cheese would go so well with palak paneer… Amazing !!

AJWAINI FISH TIKKA –
River sole fish fillet, marinated with mild spices, grilled to perfection.
Served with green beans and carrots.
The natural sweetish fish flavour was intact, mild ajwain and ginger seasoning worked well. Fabulous !!

TAWA TIGER PRAWNS –
Pan seared butter fly prawns, glazed with pickled yuzu glaze.
Garnished with pickled radish and micro greens.
The japanese citrucy yuzu flavour was outstanding, prawns tasted extreamly delicious.

STEAMED CHICKEN KOFTA –
Minced chicken koftas served in a spicy chicken broth with porcini mushrooms and green chillies.
Nice salty earthy flavour, minced chicken balls were juicy and spongy.

KING FISH BHURJI –
Fish cubes tossed with basil/onions/garlic and red chilli paste.
Served with kadak rumali crisps.
Super spicy and garlicky !! Nice !

DESSERTS :-

FILTER COFFEE PUDDING –
Sticky coffee pudding with dates, drizzled with toffee sauce.
Served with vanilla bean ice cream.
The coffee flavour was spot on, sweetness was just right ! Delicious !!

Overall, I had a amazing time !
Tappa is fabulous in terms of the food and cocktails it offers !
Their food is quite different from the usual progressive indian affair that you get at other places.
It’s not so Indian but very Indian ;))
