Romano’s is a italian restaurant located at JW Marriott Sahar, Mumbai.
The spacious cosy dimly lit diner has a beautiful understated ambiance.
It serves traditional italian delicacies made from locally sourced fresh organic ingredients.
Their food is prepared in a open kitchen by Chef Roberto Zorzoli who hails from Milan.
He has culinary experience of over fifteen years and has worked in Belgium, Italy and Shanghai before coming to India.
Chef Roberto has a profound love for true italian flavours, so many of the staple italian herbs are grown in house and even some of their cheese is prepared fresh in the kitchen to maintain authenticity.
So here is what I had –
PASSION FRUIT BASIL MARTINI –
Passion fruit and apple juice muddled with fresh basil leaves.
Super tangy n refreshing !
Home made buffalo mozzarella filled with cream, served over a bed of basil pesto dressed tomatoes.
Garnished with micro greens.
Absolutely delicious, it was all about the in house made fresh burrata !
Minced chicken dumplings, simmered with tomato sauce, served hot !
The chicken dumplings were fantastic, they were flavoured with italian herbs, even pine nuts were added for texture and richness.
Must try !
BRESAOLA DI AGNELLO –
Cured lamb bresaola, topped with shaved parmesan cheese and rocket leaves.
The lamb was cured for three months by air drying it with salt, squeeze of lemon uplifted it’s flavour.
TORTELLINI IN BRODO –
Chicken broth soup, served with chicken stuffed tortellini and chicken winglet.
The broth was thickened with roux (flour and butter).
It’s chefs grandma’s recipe, simple warm and soothing !
BLACK TRUFFLE CRAFTED :-
RISOTTO AL TARTUFO –
Italian short grained rice risotto with toasted almonds.
Garnished with sliced black truffles and freshly grated parmesan cheese.
The risotto was made using white wine/onions and cream but the real flavour surely came from the aromatic truffles.
Extremely delicious !!
PRIMI PIATTI :-
CAPELLI D’ ANGELO CON ARAGOSTA –
Angel hair pasta tossed in fresh tomato sauce with cherry tomatoes/lobster and scallops.
A seafood lovers delight, the seafood flavour had seeped into the tomato sauce, basil and black pepper added freshness to the dish !
SECONDI PIATTI :-
BRANZINO CARTOCCIO –
Pan seared chilean seabass fillet/eggplants/olives/cherry tomatoes/onion/basil and rosemary wrapped in parchment paper then baked to perfection.
Extremely healthy and light, mild herb flavours at it’s best !
Hand stretched pizza layered with freshly made tomato sauce, topped with buffalo mozzarella and basil.
The pizza crust dough was made using three kinds of flour. Refined, whole wheat and toasted flour.
This resulted in a light crispy crust with a rustic grainy texture.
The pizza sauce had the perfect raw tangy tomato flavour with freshness of basil.
The pizza tasted Fantastic !!
Expresso coffee drenched ladyfinger biscuits, layered with mascarpone cheese whisked with eggs.
Garnished with cocoa powder.
Perfect light airy creamy texture, sinful and irresistible !!
Sweetened cream, moulded with the help of vegetable gelatin.
Topped with blueberry compote.
Garnished with almonds/chocolate chips and crushed cookies.
Rich nutty and creamy !!
Overall, Romano’s is pure indulgence.
It’s all about rustic italian home style cooking where fresh ingredients is the key !
Flavours are spot on…..
Service is warm courteous and polite.
