Beautifully done up, the restaurant brings to you regional delicacies from across india, denoted by their std codes in a classic and contemporary avatar.
The elaborate food menu includes soup, salads, bar nibbles, tandoori kebabs, gravy dishes, biryani, indian breads and desserts.
The bar and beverage menu also has a pan india influence, it offers tea, coffee, mocktails and cocktails in regional indian flavours.
So here is what I had –
MARTINI IN BENARAS –
Vodka based cocktail made with benarasi paan.
JAMBHUL KARVAND MARTINI –
Bombay saphire gin based cocktail with plum java pulp and karvand juice.
Both the cocktails were fantastic, I seriously loved their benarasi cocktail which was made by freshly muddling a paan with vodka.
1982 LADAKHI CHICKEN THUKPA –
Slow cooked chicken broth with buck wheat sabo noodles/mushrooms and pokchoy.
Garnished with crispy garlic.
Fabulous, real earthy chicken stock flavour, crispy garlic added a new dimension.
4865 MUNNAR MASALA ASPARAGUS –
Asparagus puree soup infused with kerela herbs, drizzled with chilli oil and garnished with lemon foam. Served with peri peri croutons.
Very nice, loved the crispy spicy addition of croutons.
194 SAFFRON & SURAN GALOUTI –
Minced roasted yam kebab, pan seared in butter. Served over warqi paratha.
Melt in your mouth texture, mildly spiced, crispy yet moist paratha was the perfect accompaniment.
832 RECHADO MURG TIKKA –
Chicken marinated in goan spices, grilled to perfection. Garnished with micro greens.
Tender juicy chicken, bold goan spices, tasted delicious.
1334 TULSI LIFAFA PANEER –
Cottege cheese chunks stuffed with chopped almonds, marinated in basil pesto marinate then wrapped in banana leaves and finally cooked on tawa.
The paneer was soft, crunchy almonds added texture, basil marinate was unique and different.
21483 PATRA NI MACHCHI –
Rawas fillet marinated in green chutney, braised in banana leaves.
Simple flavour, it was all about the freshness of rawas.
A well made parsi delicacy.
40 ANDHRA PRAWN ROYYALA –
Batter fried king prawns tossed with onion/tomatoes/green chillies and andhra spices.
Absolutely delicious, lovely spot on flavour of curry leaves, red chillies and mustard seeds.
This dish can also be had for a main course.
11 BUTTERY CHICKEN –
Shredded chicken tikka simmered in a creamy tomato gravy.
Super rich and creamy, balanced spices, mild coal flavour and a hint of sweetness.
The butter chicken tasted extreamly delicious with rosemary olive naan.
183 LANGAR WALI KALI DAAL –
Whole black daal cooked overnight, tempered with white butter.
Simple blissful flavour, not overly creamy !
22 GAJAR HALWA MODAK –
Carrot halwa mousse, flavoured with green cardamom, moulded as a modak.
Garnished with chopped pista and pistachio mousse.
Very light smooth texture, had a pronounced flavour of carrots and cardamom.
Loved it !!
Overall, Plus 91 is a fantastic place to savour long forgotten and lesser known regional indian favourites !!
Their food may have a modern appearance but the flavours and authenticity of the respective regions is intact, this is commendable considering the diversity of indian cuisine.
Service is warm and courteous.
