Hitchki is a modern indian cuisine restaurant located at Powai, Mumbai.
As the name suggests, ‘hiccups’ ….the restaurant invokes memories by it’s ambiance, decor and quirky dishes.
It brings to you our favorite staples in a contemporary avatar.
It takes inspiration from regional delicacies and international favorites.
The elaborate food menu includes beverages, bar nibbles, bao, dimsums, soup, salads, appetizers, mains and desserts.
The bar menu is equally interesting, their cocktails have a fair dose of Indian influence.
So here is what I had –
COFFEE TOFFEE –
Vodka based cocktail made with expresso coffee shot/caramel and cream.
Really good, light and smooth…
Caramel gave it’s sweet burnt flavour, balanced the bitter vodka beautifully.
MUMBAI KA JULIUS CAESAR –
Romaine lettuce with parmesan cheese/ caesar dressing and papad.
Papad used instead of croutons, it compensated for the much needed crunch.
– SHANGHAI ASSORTED VEGGIES
– SANBAL OELEK PRAWNS
– SESAME CHICKEN
Thin outer, generous amount of filling, tasted delicious with the accompanied chilli dipping sauce !
PRAWNS JAYE PAR –
Butter garlic prawns given a twist with orange zest.
Mild simple flavours, prawns were fresh and juicy.
DESI CHILLI CHICKEN –
Chilli chicken made with a green chilli and coriander marinate.
Served on a bed of fried noodles.
Loaded with green chillies and capsicum, the chilli chicken was tender and well spiced.
BHUT JOLOKIA WINGS –
Batter fried chicken winglets tossed in barbeque sauce and bhut jolokia chillies.
Served on a bed of onions rings and spicy mayo.
Extremely spicy, not for the faint hearted !!!
You get a “REAL” kick of bhut jolokia chillies.
GRATINATED DAL KHICHDI –
Simple khichdi, tempered with desi ghee.
Served with yogurt and pickle puree.
Homely and wholesome !!
YAKITORI DONBURI –
Skewered teriyaki chicken served over a bed on flat noodles.
Garnished with sesame seeds.
The teriyaki glaze had barbeque sauce as well, this made the chicken extremely sweet.
The japanese teriyaki soya mirin flavour got overpowered with the bbq sauce !
Didn’t go well with me.
KHAS KHAS KA HALWA –
Khas khas halwa served with vanilla ice cream and almonds.
Quite unique !!
Extremely delicious, loaded with nuts, the halwa had the right amount of sweetness.
Loved it !!
BANOFEE BOMB –
Chocolate ball filled with caramelized banana/vanilla ice cream and banana cake.
Drizelled with caramel sauce.
Garnished with pecan nuts.
Fantastic, tasted as delicious as it looked !!
Overall I had a wonderful time !
The chic soothing ambiance restaurant is able to create a element of nostalgia in their dining.
Their food is familiar and relatable but yet it’s able to take you by surprise !
