Turban Tales is a north indian dhaba themed restaurant located at Powai, Mumbai.

image

image

The rooftop restaurant is owned by mini punjab but here the focus is on twisted glamorized north Indian favorites.

image

The classics like mutton curry, butter chicken and maa ki dal are there but what catches your attention is tandoori momos, jhinga pao, naan pizza and jalebi chaat !!

image

Even their bar menu is full of unique concoctions made using Desi Flavours !

Ambiance is rustic, real elements are used to give you an authentic feel.

So here is what I had –

APPETIZERS :-

image

RANG BIRANGEY BURGERS –
Mini jamun infused in-house made buns stuffed with shredded chicken tikka/lettuce/tomatoes and cheese.
Served with jamun mayo dip.
This is a part of their monsoon menu.
Nice juicy sliders, the magic was in the soft buns and flavourful chicken tikka !

image

CHICKEN VADA –
Minced chicken tossed with indian spices, coated with bread, then deep fried to perfection.
Served with dry garlic powder.
Again, this is a part of their monsoon menu.
A twisted way of serving chicken vada pao, instead of offering a chicken vada in a pao, they coat the bread in the chicken vada itself ! True robust flavours…Nice !

image

SUPREME CHICKEN TIKKA –
Chicken chunks marinated in tandoori spices, filled with amul cheese, grilled to perfection.
Pure Bliss, the cheese was stuffed in generous amount, it oozes out as soon as you take a bite !

image

FISH TIKKA –
Rawas marinated in mild spices, grilled to perfection.
A specialty of mini punjab, the natural fresh flavour of the fish stands out !!

image

ACHARI PANEER TIKKA –
Paneer chunks/onions/capsicum and tomatoes marinated in achaari masala, grilled to perfection.
A well made paneer tikka, apart from having a zingy achaari flavour, the drizzle of mustard oil is what made it delicious.

image

CHATPATEY HONEY AALU –
French fries tossed with chilli, garlic, soya and honey.
Simply irresistible !
Sweet spicy crunchy potatoes !!!

image

PRAWNS KOLIWADA –
Prawns marinated in koliwada masala, deep fried to perfection.
Served with garlic peanut dipping sauce.
Fresh juicy prawns, ajwain flavour made them sparkle even more !
Loved the accompanied garlicy peanut dipping sauce as much as the prawns !!

image

RESHMI SOYA CHAAP –
Soya chaap marinated with cream and mild indian spices, grilled to perfection.
Nice succulent soya chaap, overload of cream and butter made it rich n delicious !

image

NAAN PIZZA –
Naan layered with makhni sauce, then topped with onion, capsicum and cheese, grilled in tandoor.
Garnished with cheese sauce.
Served with tomato sauce and cheesy dip.
Extremely well made, the naan was non strechy or chewy !!
Cheese and makhni made it appetizing !

image

CHICKEN QUESADILLAS –
Thin refined flour parathas layered with shredded chicken tikka and cheese.
Served with tomato salsa.
Indian food given a mexican avatar, the parathas were thin and crispy, chicken and cheese is a killer combination !

image

TIKKA MOMOS –
Refined flour momos filled with finely chopped veggies, steamed then finished in tandoor with a tikka marination.
The humble momos were given a smokey twist, tandoori marinate added another layer of flavour !

MAINS :-

image

ANGREZAN DA TIKKA MASALA –
Chicken tikka simmered in a buttery creamy yet spicy tomato gravy.
Served with tandoori roti.
The spicy delhi wala version of chicken tikka masala .
It had a spicy kick of chopped green chillies, cream and cashew paste balanced the flavour !

image

MAA DI DAAL –
Black daal cooked overnight then made with love by adding dollops of butter, cream and ghee.
Well made, it was all about striking the balance, not overloaded with cream, daal flavour was intact …..
A squeeze of lemon made it even more delicious !

DESSERTS :-

image

PAAN ICE CREAM –
Paan ice cream made by infusing crushed paan leaves and gulkand.
Served over a paan leaf.
This is the best paan ice cream i have had in recent times !!!
It’s the real deal, no paan flavour , real paan infused in an ice cream !!!
Exceptional !!!

Overall, I had a great time !
Their food is Delicious 🙂
The flavours are familiar but their extra jazz brings freshness and surprise to the palate.

Their quirky name dishes and over the top ambiance helps you ease and gets a smile on your face !

Service is warm and courteous.

Go try indulge 🙂
