Farmer’s Cafe is a all day cafe located at Bandra, Mumbai.
The health oriented cafe has a rustic yet contemporary wooden decor with a cute cozy ambiance.
It brings to you healthy meals made with organic ingredients sourced directly from the farms.
Their food menu offers breakfast favorites, soup, appetizers, mains, burgers, panini, pasta, pizzas and desserts.
This may sound like a regular cafe menu but it’s not…..
All the unhealthy dishes are prepared using alternative cooking techniques and healthy ingredients like whole wheat/multigrain flour, brown rice, rajgira, nachani, skim cheese, soy milk and jaggery.
The synonym healthy food, ‘Salad’ is purposely omitted from the menu !!
The cafe instead offers vegan and gluten-free options in their food, Granola bars and freshly baked breads are also sold over the counter.
So here is what I had –
CACAO RECHARGE –
Dark chocolate blended with almond milk, nuts and sesame seeds.
Served at room temperature, very lightly sweetened….this drink will surely take care of your chocolate craving without adding calories.
EGG BENEDICT –
Porched eggs drizelled with hollandaise sauce on a bed of multigrain muffins.
Served with sauteed veggies and homemade tomato sauce.
This was all about the grainy dence bun used in the base.
It was rustic and extremely filling.
The hollandaise and tomato sauce helped to add flavour.
NON VEGETARIAN –
Diced grilled chicken breast served with homemade sauce/brown rice/sauteed veggies and salad.
The chicken had a mild marination, it was soft and juicy.
The homemade sauce was made with vegetable puree and flavoured with indian spices.
Organic veggie salad was crunchy and super fresh.
A complete meal for one, but i bet you won’t be able to finish it.
It’s because the meal is full of fibre and it really fills you up !
HIGH SCHOOL –
Whole wheat thin curst pizza topped with skim parmesan/cheddar/mozzarella cheese/onions/sun dried tomatoes/jalapenos and basil.
Drizelled with chilli oil.
The crust was extremely thin and crispy, the tomato sauce was tangy and had a raw chunky texture.
Generous amount of cheese was used in the making but chilli oil really cut through the richness ! Loved it !!
A healthy take on tiramisu, it was made with homemade cashew cream cheese and rice flour sponge, it was sweetened with jaggery.
Extremely delicious, the homemade cheese made up for the mascarpone….Favour of coffee and cocoa was spot on !
Overall, I loved their concept and their offerings.
They are extremely serious about giving you a healthy alternative.
Comfort food can be tweaked and made healthy !
If you want to feel good about what you eat, Farmer’s Cafe won’t disappoint !
