Tamasha is a fun quirky restro-bar located at Lower Parel, Mumbai.
Beautifully done up, the huge lounge has a dramatic ambiance with it’s lights, mirrors and rustic wooden bare brick wall decor.
It serves modern indian cuisine along with a bit of fusion italian and asian.
Their bar menu is a interesting mix of classic cocktails influenced by local flavours.
The lounge also organises events on regular basis and turns into a party place on weekends.
So here is what I did on a Sunday –
KAFFIR ORANGE –
Vodka based cocktail made with vanilla syrup/kaffir leaves and homemade orange soda.
Fabulous flavour of kaffir lime with the tang of orange ! Refreshing !!
HOUSE MARINATED FETA
Arugula leaves and oven roasted tomatoes tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
Garnished with truffle marinated feta cheese and drizzled with truffle oil.
Served with crispy lavash.
The salad was fantastic, it had a dominant aroma of truffle oil and even the roasted tomatoes had a thyme flavour to it, both of them gelled really well with the sour balsamic vinaigrette and crunchy arugula leaves.
CORN N CHEESE GRILLED KABABS –
Minced sweet corn/green peas and cottege cheese patty.
Served with dal makhani/tzatziki/house salad and mini olive naan.
The kababs had a mild cheesy flavour, killer combination of dal makhani and green olive naan worked really well.
BHATTI MURGH SOUVLAKI –
Chicken chunks marinated with cream and mild spices, grilled to perfection.
Served with house salad/hummus/pita bread and tzatziki.
Creamy juicy chicken malai tikka at it’s best even the chickpea hummus was well made !
BEIJING CHICKEN –
Batter fried chicken/bell peppers/onions and peanuts tossed with worcestershire sauce/ red chilli paste and garlic.
Topped with fried noodles.
Served with kimchi salad.
Sweet spicy asian flavours, can’t go wrong !!
MALABARI SMOKED PRAWNS –
King prawns marinated with coconut milk and southern spices, grilled on tandoor. Served on a bed of malabari spiced sauce made of grated coconut and curry leaves.
The mildly spiced zesty coconut milk flavour worked really well with the prawns, loved it !
INDIAN MACARONI BALLS –
Crumb fried balls made with macaroni/cheddar/mozzarella/parmesan cheese and mild indian spices.
Served with mango jalapeno mayo.
Crunchy outside and gooey cheese inside will surely satisfy everyones taste buds.
LEEK & CHEESE CIGAR ROLLS –
Phyllo cigar rolls stuffed with cheese and leeks.
Served with tomato tamarind dipping sauce.
Baked not fried makes all the difference, tangy peppery dipping sauce was equally nice.
– PRAWNS SUIMAI
– CHICKEN GYOZA
The dimsums had a thin potato rice flour outer, suimai was open top and gyoza was pan fried dimsum.
They were accompanied with honey chilli and pepper scallion dipping sauce.
Both of them were absolutely delicious, worth ordering !
BUTTER CHICKEN –
Shredded tandoori chicken simmered in a rich tomato cream gravy.
Served with butter garlic naan.
The butter chicken was thankfully on the spicier side, not sweet or overly creamy !
Went will with garlicy naan !
MADRAS CURRY CHICKEN RISOTTO –
Short grained rice risotto flavoured with southern spiced chicken curry.
Tempered with mustard seeds and curry leaves.
Served with masala papad.
Mustard seeds and curry leaf flavour was prominent, uplifted the flavour of the cheesy rice.
CHOCOLATE PAN WEDGE –
Dutch truffle cake spiked with pan.
Served with wild berry compote and garnished with rose dust.
The soft gooey chocolate cake was fabulously flavoured with crushed pan pasand candy.
Accompanied sour berry compote beautifully cut through the overdose of chocolate.
SUNDAE FONDUE –
Thai basil and saffron mint ice cream served on a bed of fruits.
Garnished with chocolate chip/nuts/chocolate sauce and marshmallow candy.
A well made sundae, I really liked their unique basil flavoured ice cream.
Overall, I had a fabulous time !
