Theory is a fine dine restaurant located at Kamla Mills, Mumbai.
The chic elegant ambiance restaurant has a dark theme decor with a huge bar build using charcoal.
It serves modern european cuisine with a aim to serve dishes that are not only delicious to eat but a experience in itself !!
So the food menu is short and crisp, the dishes may sound familiar but the creation is completely unique.
It’s their “Theory” of how good food should taste like !!
Coming to the bar menu, the selection of spirits is huge, they have created a variety of signature cocktails using contrasting spirits and freshly muddled ingredients.
No syrups is used in the making.
So here is what I had –
ZESTY COLADA –
Vodka based cocktail made with coconut/pineapple/basil and lemongrass.
Right amount of sweetness, lovely touch of basil n hint of lemongrass… Refreshing !!
GREEN PEA & MINT OIL –
Pea puree soup with onion tortellini and mint oil.
Peas n mint really go well together, the soup was warm n comforting !!
THEORY HOUSE SALAD –
Mixed lettuce tossed with asparagus/cherry tomatoes/avocado/goat cheese and chia seeds in a lime mustard dressing.
Healthy salad, light dressing of strong pungent mustard with the richness of goat cheese. Wow !!!
SMALL PLATE :-
BLACK BEAN & PUMPKIN SEED LOAF –
Oven baked beans loaf made with black beans/pumpkin seeds and corn.
Served on pepper coulis and guacamole.
Garnished with tortilla chips.
Gooey flavourful loaf, loved the creaminess of avocado and crispy texture of tortilla chips.
BURBON CHICKEN WINGS –
Crumb fried chicken winglet tossed with burbon whiskey sauce and spicy remoulade.
The wings were full of meat with a melt in your mouth texture, loved the rub of spices on the chicken.
MAIN COURSE :-
ROASTED ATLANTIC SALMON –
Crispy skin on salmon, served on a bed of three bean ragout with fennel and baby greens.
The pan seared salmon fillet was cooked to perfection, simple bean sauce with a touch of apple cider vinegar worked in harmony, did not overpower the fish !!
MOROCCAN CHICKEN –
Brimed spiced chicken, served on a bed of creamy polenta/french beans/bell peppers and kalamata jus.
The chicken meat was pulling apart easily, jus was mild n simple, relatively healthy and comforting.
CHOCOLATE CREMEUX –
Chocolate pudding served with amarula ice cream/candid popcorn/caramel hazelnut mousse and chocolate wafers.
A chocolate lovers delight, the crunchy popcorns really played on the palate, cool creamy ice cream made out of african coffee liquier was outstanding.
Overall, “Theory” is interesting !!
Their take on the classics is different, one has to appreciate the effort gone into conceptualizing each dish, specially the vegetarian options created from Italian classics.
Their food is suited to a palate who is ready to explore and indulge in something new !
I personally loved their food.
Go try indulge !!
