Cafe madras is a iconic south Indian restaurant located at Matunga.
This 75 year old restaurant is loved for its amazing variety of south Indian delicacies like idli, dosa, vada, upma and rice preparations.
The food served here is fresh simple and insanely delicious !!
So here is what I had !
IDLI BUTTER PODI –
super soft moist idlies topped with white butter, mulga podi and coconut chutney.
The idlies literally had a melt in your mouth texture, the coconut chutney was fresh but the main attraction was the malga podi powder….
it made the idlies extremely flavourful !!! loved it !!
UPMA PODI –
Rava upma made with ghee, tempered with urad dal, sprinkled with mulga podi powder and served with coconut chutney.
Fabulous!!! By far the best upma I have had .
MYSORE SADA DOSA –
Thin crispy mildly spiced dosa served with coconut chutney and sambar.
BISIBELE RICE –
South Indian lentil rice mixed with vegetables and spicy masala.
Served with coconut chutney and spicy rice papad.
It’s hot spicy wholesome and delicious, The deep fried rice papad give the perfect crunch.
overall I had a great time !!
Many may find this place over crowded or may find it uncomfortable to share tables….but all I can say is….IT’S WORTH IT !!
It’s by far the best south Indian I have had in recent times!!
